The Max-Control bits are double jointed bit that play a corrective role and act as a straight bar. 
This Sprenger Max-Control bit with locking mechanism has this self-locking effect, which occurs when the horse opposes the rider's hand. 
The locking effect is then more intense. 
It immediately decreases when the horse gives way.
