In unfamiliar or stressful situations like transport, treatments by the vet, dentist, farrier or extreme weather, a horse may experience stress and naturally have a strong instinct to flee. How much stress your horse experiences depends on its character, genetics and experience. Unfortunately, sometimes it is inevitable that your horse is exposed to a stressful situation. Then, Pavo BeChill can help to reduce stress quickly (within 30 min – 2h) and promote relaxation.

Supplement to reduce stress

A stress response in the body of the horse is influenced by signalling substances which are sent towards and from the brain. Basically these signalling substances can send two messages: a stress-message and a relax-message. Increased amounts of stress messages result in an increased heart and breathing rate, sweating and tightening of the muscles. On the other hand, when the level of relax messages are increased, the heart and breathing rate becomes normal again and muscles will be loose and supple. In stressful situations, the body ensures that the level of stress messages increase and the relax messages go down. This results in the horse being more alert and ready to flee and, thereby, experiencing stress. Pavo BeChill blocks the body’s mechanism to break down relax messages and limits the increase of stress messages. So, Pavo BeChill influences both messages and, therefore, helps to reduce stress very effectively.

Magic ingredients: lemon balm & magnesium

The most important ingredients of Pavo BeChill are lemon balm and the well-known magnesium. Lemon balm is a natural ingredient that helps to reduce stress as it blocks the breakdown of relax messages. Therefore, more relax messages remain telling the body to keep the heart and breathing rate normal and the muscles relaxed. Lemon balm is a powerful ingredient as very low amounts already have a great effect on the stress-reaction in the horse.

Magnesium helps to block the production of stress messages, meaning the body receives less signals telling the horse to increase the heart and breathing rate, start sweating and to tighten the muscles. Additionally, it’s proven that cortisol (stress-hormone) concentration is significantly lower after feeding magnesium. Magnesium is one of the most-well-known ingredients that help with stressed and nervous horses.

  • FAQ

I already feed my horse Pavo NervControl. Can I add Pavo BeChill?

It is possible to feed BeChill and NervControl at the same time when an additional calming effect is required. However, we don’t recommend adding Pavo BeChill as a daily supplement. Pavo NervControl on the other hand is for ongoing use.

Is it possible to feed Pavo BeChill over a longer period of time or permanently?

Yes, Pavo BeChill can also be fed permanently. Please note that your horse's body may become accustomed to the substances and then react less to the same dosage in acute stress situations. In addition, Pavo BeChill is unique for its rapid stress-relieving effect in certain stressful situations. For a long-lasting, relaxing effect, we recommend Pavo NervControl.

Which product works better? Pavo NervControl of BeChill?

Both products work well, but it depends on your situation which product suits best. When your horse is normally relaxed, but gets stressed due to a specific situation, we advise Pavo BeChill. If your horse is generally sensitive, tense or easily stressed, then we advise you to choose Pavo NervControl.

Is it tasty? My horse is very picky.

Yes, Pavo BeChill is tasty. There is a sweetener in the product. The advantage of this sweetener is that, in contrast to many other sweeteners, it does not influence the glucose metabolism. Therefore, Pavo BeChill is also suitable for horses with metabolic problems (laminitis, PPID, PSSM, EMS).

Is Pavo BeChill free of doping?

Pavo BeChill is free of doping.

I use Be Chill during trailer transport, New Year's Eve, and today while weaning the foal. I give Be Chill to the mare to calm her down since the foal is off to the rearing facility. It works so well! Amazing. So happy and animal-friendly that this now exists.

I used this product for my easily nervous 6-year-old. He has become noticeably calmer during training and can concentrate better!

FANTASTIC PRODUCT! My horse is so calm when riding forward now. Previously he was shy and shy at meeting but with BeChill he is completely cool

I used BeChill to give my young horses some support at their first trade fair. Both appeared very relaxed.
