Wear and tear on the cartilage which covers the articular surfaces of joints is one of the most common causes of reduced mobility in horses and ponies. It is often seen in older horses but can affect those in lighter work, as well those with a strenuous training and competition programme.
Cartilage doesn’t have its own blood supply and it relies on the bone underneath and the synovial or joint fluid bathing the joint to supply nutrients and key compounds to maintain its health and shock-absorbing properties.  As the horse ages, or the daily impact of training and competition increases, the ability of the underlying bone and synovial fluid to provide these nutrients may not be enough to maintain health, resulting in stiffness and reduced mobility.
Glucosamine 12,000 provides these key nutrients to help maintain healthy cartilage and synovial fluid, supporting joint health and mobility.
Glucosamine HCl is supported by research and has greater purity and stability properties compared to glucosamine sulphate, providing over 20% more glucosamine on a weight for weight basis. This means, 12,000mg of glucosamine HCl (a typical daily serve), is not the same as 12,000mg of glucosamine sulphate. Glucosamine HCl is typically 83% actual glucosamine and glucosamine sulphate is typically only 60% actual glucosamine. Therefore, a supplement providing 12,000mg glucosamine HCl per serve actually provides 10,300mg glucosamine, whereas a supplement stating 12,000mg glucosamine sulphate per serve only provides 7200mg actual glucosamine.

    Glucosamine is one of the key compounds in supporting joint health, and has 3 important roles:

    • To stimulate the production of the proteoglycans which help produce the strong, elastic, shock-absorbing properties of the collagen matrix in the cartilage
    • To help maintain cartilage health
    • Helps support the horses’ own anti-inflammatory processes.

    MSM is a powerful antioxidant and helps support the horses’ own anti-inflammatory systems, as well as a bioavailable source of organic sulphur, which is a vital component of key amino acids and vitamins. Sulphur also has an important role in collagen synthesis. Collagen is a major component of connective tissue such as ligaments and tendons and cartilage.

    Hyaluronic Acid is important in maintaining the viscosity and elastic shock-absorbing properties of joint fluid

    Glucosamine HCl 12000 provides these 3 key nutrients to provide nutritional support for cartilage and helps maintain healthy joint fluid to lubricate and nourish the joint.

  • DIRECTIONS OF USE

    For 500kg horse: for initial 10 days, 30g per day. Thereafter, may be reduced to 15g per day, to maintain the desired response.

    I started using this supplement when my horse came off box rest back in 2021. I’d really noticed a difference and then for one reason or the other I swapped to a cheaper brand.     I've always used Equine America , my last horse had navicular and so was tripping I used the Ha but my new loan horse is an older chap so thought he would benefit from this and I'm on my 3rd tub and he seems more comfortable, Great product at a fabulous price .

    This supplement is very effective for my 15 year old horse suffering from cervical osteoarthritis. It eats it easily in his ration. Much more flexible after 15 days of treatment.
